Moderne achieves SOC 2 Type 2 certification

By successfully completing an independent audit and achieving Service Organization Control 2 (SOC 2®) Type 2 certification in October 2022, the Moderne SaaS platform is confirmed to meet the trust services criteria set by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Our certification validates that our platform is designed to have the security controls and structures in place that our customers require when it comes to dealing with their source code.

What is SOC 2 Type 2?

SOC 2 Type 2 certification involves a rigorous auditing procedure aimed at demonstrating that service providers can securely handle sensitive information to protect the interests and privacy of their clients. It covers both the suitability of a company’s controls and its operating effectiveness based on five “trust service principles.” The principles examined include the:

• security of the service provider’s system
• processing integrity of this system
• availability of this system
• privacy of personal information that the provider collects, retains, uses, discloses, and disposes of for user entities
• confidentiality of the information that the provider’s system processes or maintains for user entities

By achieving SOC 2 Type 2, a company has proven that its system is designed to keep its clients’ sensitive data secure.

Our controls were put under the microscope from May 2022 through October 2022 by an independent auditor to receive our SOC 2 Type 2 certification. Being able to achieve this important milestone within six months is a great demonstration of our commitment.

Controls have been selected that verify the secure storage of customer data, as well as Moderne’s own change management, access control, system operations, and other processes.
